        • WordPress Ping Lists – Basic Facts

        • WordPress Ping ListsThere are a lot of ping lists out there on the Internet these days for WordPress. Therefore, with all of lists out there and some lists including up to 100 ping services, one can get very confused. However, we need to address a very big question about ping lists. What ping services do you really need and what kind of problems you can get into by using big lists containing tons of ping services?

          The problem is that some of these ping services, ping other services and that can get you tagged as a spammer. Furthermore, that is something you really need to avoid at all costs.
          WordPress uses pingomatic as its default ping service and it is a very good service to use. However, the problem is that pingomatic sends pings to other ping services as shown below.

          Default ping list for WordPress:
          * Ping-O-Matic - http://rpc.pingomatic.com

          Services that pingomatic sends pings to:

          There were a four ping services addresses that I wasn't able to locate. However, if you have knowledge of them, please contact me through the contact form, or register and include them in your comment and I will gladly add them.

          I would suggest the you may want to include PingShot and PingGoat as backups to your ping list, just in case that pingomatic goes down. This is a suggestion and if you do, please take time to see which ping services they ping, to make sure of redundant pings.

          My favorite three ping services:
          * Pingomatic
          * PingShot - Requires a Feedburner account.
          * PingGoat - Require a PingGoat account.

          Services that PingGoat pings:
          * blog people - http://www.blogpeople.net/servlet/weblogUpdates
          * Bulk Feeds - http://bulkfeeds.net/rpc
          * Catapings - http://www.catapings.com/ping.php
          * Core Blog - http://coreblog.org/ping/
          * effbot - http://effbot.org/rpc/ping.cgi
          * Focus Look - http://www.newsisfree.com/RPCCloud
