        • How to reset the admin password in WordPress

        • Reset your WordPress Admininstrator PasswordOccasionally, people forget their password and can't login their WordPress Admin panel. After trying all of the usual combination's of your passwords with no success, what is one to do? There is no need to panic, because there are a few simply solutions to get you up and running again.

          1. The easiest option is to reset your password via, using WordPress. However, this does require that you have accessibility to your email address that was used to register your blog with. However, if the email that you used to register is no longer accessible, step #1 isn't going to work.

          2. If you have access to phpmyadmin, it is possible to reset that password manually via, MySQL database. It is my recommendation, that step #2, be that last method that you try, unless you are an avid user with MySQL database experience. However, in this post I will not be including the instructions needed to reset the Admin password via phpmyadmin.

          3. If all other methods fail, there is a very clever php file called, WordPress Emergency Password Reset. If you have FTP access, you can upload the reset php file to your server, via using a FTP client to use to reset your pwd. This will require a username and pwd for FTP access. If you don't have access to this information, you're going to have to contact your hosting provider.

          Additional suggestions and warnings:

          * When you have finished and have reset your password successfully, you need to delete the emergency.php file off the server. Remember to do this for security reasons to prevent hackers from accessing your WordPress blog.

          * It has been report that WordPress Emergency Password Reset, works on versions up to 2.71 of WordPress. If you are running WordPress 2.8, I would suggest that you contact the author of this plugin and inquire about its compatibility.

          * To avoid this type of problem in the near future with WordPress or any other login accounts you have, I suggest that you obtain a password program. I suggest, PassWord Depot 3 Professional Version. It allows you to install the program on your hardrive and on a USB device, such as a flash drive, so you can take your passwords with you, where ever you go and access them.
