One of the biggest problems of being a blogger, is spending way too much time trying to please everybody that visits your blog! While your readership is an important factor, it isn't always the number one factor to consider when making decisions of what blogging roads you should travel and maintain. Furthermore, there will be a time and place where you just need to say no and stop being a yes man! Otherwise, you'll increase your chances of losing your focus and the possibilities of standing still or even burning out!
If you are a yes man, you can easily lose sight of your direction and that can prevent you from achieving your goals as a blogger! Therefore, one must have a plan that you stick you and goals to achieve, in order to help you stay focused! Furthermore, did you know that being a yes man can actually work against you, and dig you into a bottomless pit that is very hard to get out of? This is another reason to learn your limits and learn to say no when requests are made upon you, which fall outside of your plan and your reasons for blogging!
One of the biggest obstacles to get over is when someone asks you for something is saying yes, when you actually should have said no! Most people say yes because they feel that it would be letting others down, if they would say no! While it is nice to be liked, let's face it, you can't please everybody. Furthermore, it is even harder to please anybody, if you can't please yourself! Don't let guilt rule you to say yes and give in, otherwise you are going to add a lot of stress and extra pressure in your life. Furthermore, if you spread peanut butter too thin, is it still a peanut butter sandwich or is it just a bad sandwich? Either way, it turns out to be a bad experience and probably won't satisfy your taste buds!
Just being a blogger, isn't enough for the long haul. It is of the utmost importance to be true to one's self and learn to please yourself first! When you have achieved this, then you will know how to spread the peanut butter without thinning it out too much and losing its taste! Now, the question that is at hand is, how does your blog taste?
