It is spreading all over the Internet as fast as a rapid ragging Forrest fire! From the East to the West and North to the South, it is being said that John Chow, was bitch slapped by Google, and that he has finally conceded. It is also said that the ongoing battle has been going on for nearly three years, where as John, continually refused to play ball accordingly to Google's Webmaster rules. However, it looks like the battle has now ended between Chow and Google!
In a blog post that John Chow made on July 2009, he basically stated that all bloggers should follow the rules set forth by Google. However, it is old news that Google set John to the penalty box for not using the no-follow tag on paid links on his site! Furthermore, John, for some reason, chose to fight a battle that he couldn't even win! However, it has been stated that John was singled out to be made a example of! Therefore, that could have been the reason behind his rebellion!
I personality, would have thought that a blogger that points out on his blog that he makes somewhere around $40,000.00 per month would have come to his senses much earlier than three years! I am not sure of what type of financial impact it had on John's monthly income, but I am pretty sure that he wasn't making $40,000.00 per month by not playing ball with Google! With logic like that, maybe $10,000.00 per month would be more likely? However, John, is very resourceful, so who actually knows for sure?
The big question that I wonder about is, how many bloggers did John influence to not play ball according to Google and how many of those bloggers are not allowed in the ballpark? Furthermore, will they ever play again, are they benched or did they just throw in the towel?
Overall, looking at John's blog, things seem to be in order and running smoothly now. Therefore, it is probably a good time for all bloggers who don't agree to play by the rules set forth by Google to re-valuate their way of thinking and re-consider using the no-follow tag on paid links on their blog! There is absolutely, no sense at all to learn the hard way like John did!
Additional thoughts:
There is an old saying, not to bite the hand that feeds you! This applies to many things in life, such as good ethics and following rules that allow a ball game to be played fair and square! Furthermore, I am glad that John, finally decided to give up his fight against Google and re-thought his position! It also serves as a good lesson for many of you that look up to these blogger icons, not to follow everything that they say or do! One thing that I have to say is that all blogger icons are people and people make mistakes, myself included! Therefore, John, there are many people who look up to you, hope you set a good example from here on forth!
Hope this blog post was helpful to you, "You have got to be kidding, did Google actually bitch slap John Chow?"
Spunky Jones.
