There is no doubt in my mind that most people who own a website, want to achieve high rankings in the search engines. The problem is that some of them have the ill notion to Lie, Cheat and Steal, their way to the top placements in the search engines. For the most part, they use hidden text, hidden links, cloaking and sneaky redirects to deceive the search engines.
While, these so called tricks may actually work, they are short lived. However, if you lie, cheat and steal, eventually you get caught! Furthermore, there will be consequences to pay for your deception.
Search engines are continually evolving and improving their algorithms. As they improve, so does the accuracy to detect deceptive SEO methods. The goal of the search engines is to provide their users with the best overall experience. Providing them with the most accurate search results for what they are looking for. Search engines do not take kindly to people who are deceitful. When you are found out, the consequences can include, not ranking for your keyword terms or even being banned from the search engines.
SEO Optimization isn't about black hat SEO techniques that trick the search engines to deliver large masses of non-targeted traffic to your site. SEO, is about building a marketing strategy that is effective and delivers a high volume of targeted traffic to your site. Furthermore, this includes potential prospects who are looking for your products and services. It is all about quality traffic, than quantity. Search engines want to deliver quality traffic to your website that is relevant to your niche, comprising of people who are looking for what you have to offer.
Using deceptive SEO methods may actually provide you with large amounts of traffic at first. However, in doing so, you actually end up hurting yourself in the long run. Once you get caught, it is nearly impossible to recover and most often you end up having to start up a completely new site. It is hardly worth the risk!
The best SEO method to apply, is one that does not try to deceive the search engines. Using ethical SEO techniques, including using relevant terms that are related to your niche. The bottom line is, if you are selling horses, don't try to sell your visitors a mule, when they were expecting a horse!
