There isn't a single workweek that goes by that I don't receive an email from some individual representing a search engine optimization (SEO) firm in India. Overall, most of these emails aren't very impressive to say the least. As a matter of fact, most of them are a really big letdown and is a complete a waste of time!
India is known for having one of the strongest IT sectors in the world. Their outsourcing potential for SEO is immense. However, most SEO firms from India's fall short with communication skills when dealing with potential clients from the West hemisphere.
Here are some suggestions that you should consider before contacting any potential client for your search engine optimization services:
Spelling and Grammar:
Take the extra time to run your spell checker to avoid spelling and grammar errors. You'll look a lot more professional and get more acceptance from your email marketing campaigns.
Business Credentials:
There is a lot more to SEO than purchasing a piece of SEO ranking software and throwing up a website. Credentials are a must, and one must project themselves as a professional and have the commodities to back up their claims. Furthermore, having a website is a must!
Keyword Ranking Comparison Report:
You'll need a competitive ranking comparison report for your site. This is needed to show your potential clients, how well you rank for your own web site. If you're not ranking for highly competitive keyword terms that deliver targeted traffic, there is no point for any further discussion.
Web Traffic:
Alexa Rankings are a metric that people use to determine whether to purchase your services and products. If your rankings aren't under 100K, most people won't take you very seriously.
PageRank:
While PageRank isn't everything when it comes to SEO. If your optimisation process is successful, then you should have some PageRank from Google as well.
SEO Score:
Don't present me with an SEO score that was derived by some SEO software. While software can be very useful to get your site on the SEO playing field, don't count on it hitting any grand slams! I have seen niches where the top ten positions range between 75% to 85%. These SEO ratings were taken with SEO software such as, Hello Search Engines 7, Web CEO and Internet Business Promoter (IBP). I have also seen top ranking sites lose their position by increasing their SEO score percentage. There is a human element to SEO optimisation that software can't replace!
Guarantee:
Give me a money back guaranteed, if you fail to rank my highly competitive keywords in the top ten of Google.
Additional thoughts:
I don't want you to think that I am totally down with India. I have a very decent coder "Naif Amoodi" who is from India. He has been working with me for over 4 years. I am very happy with the services that he provides for me!
There is a lot of talent in India, it just needs to represent itself in more professional manner. I believe that most of this trouble is due to beginners. They are trying to get their foot in the door of the SEO industry. They have good intentions, but aren't quite ready yet.
