        • Optimizing Title Tags for Better SEO

        • - Get that extra mileage out of your web site -

        • Optimizing Title TagsYour site's title tags (are shown by default, at the top of your browser when someone is visiting your website,) is considered to be one of the most important SEO factors which determines your search engine rankings.  There are three common search engine optimization - "SEO" made mistakes that are continually made that should be avoided at all costs, when optimizing title tags for better SEO.

#1. First mistake, is using a single title throughout your site on every page of your blog or web site.
#2. Second mistake, is not using a title which best represents your niche and targeted keywords.

Optimizing Title Tags - SEO Strategy
To achieve better search engine rankings, one must optimize the title so that it will accurately represent your page content.
Example #1. (Tom's Blog) - Bad Title because it doesn't include what your niche is.
Example #2. (Tom's Blog - Search Engine Optimization Tips) - Good Title
Example #3. (Search Engine Optimization Tips - Tom's Blog) - Better Title

While, many SEO experts would prefer to use "Search Engine Optimization Tips" there are some that will add the company name or individuals name, for name branding purposes. If you are name branding, then your name would be located at the starting or end of your title. - - My choice for the placement of the name is at the end of the title tag, which gives the keywords more relevancy. - -

The example above, would apply to a site which is about Search Engine Optimization Tips.

#3. The third mistake, is keyword stuffing your title tag.

          Title Tag - Keyword Stuffing
Example: (Tom's Blog - Search Engine Optimization - SEO - Blogging Tips - Affiliate Marketing - Making Money Online - Online Marketing)  - - Keyword stuffing! - -

Even though the keywords are related to the site's niche, this method is considered as keyword stuffing. Search engines determine a given value for your title keywords and that is depended on the total number of keywords. The more keywords that are used in your title, the lessor value you will receive in relevancy.

Therefore, a good title tag should consist of no more than two to three keywords. Keyword phrases can be used, but be careful on the length not to exceed 60 to 80 characters. Furthermore, don't forget, optimizing title tags is a must!
