WordPress, approves three of Spunky Jone’s SEO Plugins!

In July 2009, the Spunky Jones Blog started to have WordPress plugins developed for us by Naif Amoodi. Instructions were sent off to Naif of the concept and functionality of the plugins and a request for his thoughts and suggestions. Between the two of us, we were able to come up with three plugins for WordPress.

Plugins:
* Keyword Optimizer
* SEO Top Tip
* Display Scheduled Posts

The first WordPress plugin that we started with was for the Keyword Optimizer project. Therefore, the keyword optimizer SEO plugin was developed so that important blog post keywords on a website could be optimized for better rankings in the search engines using the HTML strong, em, and u, tags.

The second WordPress plugin that we started was for the SEO Top Top project. This was another SEO plugin, that let's users add a customized message box in the first post on the homepage, to boost search engine optimization (SEO).

Our third WordPress plugin project was for the "Display Scheduled Posts" plugin. This plugin, A plugin let's you display posts that are scheduled to be published on any page or post of your choice by adding a little piece of code to it. It also, contains an additional feature that let's a user mark specific posts as special. The title of a post marked as special is not revealed on the page that lists the scheduled posts and is instead replaced by something user defined.

The development of the plugins went very smoothly and turned out as planned. Therefore, I decided to submit them to WordPress.org and to be hosted there as well. All three plugins were accepted by wordpress.org and there is an audience which shows some interest, by downloading them and visiting the Spunky Jones Ethical Techniques Blog.

Overall, it turned out better than I expected. I discovered that, I actually enjoy creating the concept end of the plugins and their expected functionality. Developing WordPress plugins has also expanded my blog niche, readership and increased the amount of targeted traffic it receives. I have further plans to continue to develop more WordPress plugins, in fact, the forth one is in the making and should be released very soon!
