If you are looking to improve search engine rankings, consider image optimization by including the “image alt tag” for images that you insert into your blog posts. Furthermore, did you know, that not using the “image alt tag” is frequently skipped by most webmasters in their “search engine optimization” process, and most bloggers are unaware of the fact that image optimization will improve search engine rankings?
- - The image alt tag, is an alternate tag for the search engines, which describes what the image is about. - -
Example of a "alt" tag:
<img src="seo.gif" alt="Improve Search Engine Rankings"/>
I personally recommend using the "alt" tag attribute in your blog post images, because it will give you an extra bump in your search engine optimization and also improve your search engine rankings for your targeted keywords and phrases.
Using the "alt" tag, not only describes your images to the search engines, it will get you some additional traffic from the Google Image Search as well. - - Providing, you have not excluded the Google image bot, in your robots.txt file. - -
So, the next time that you are making a new post, don't forget to make usage of the "alt" tag, by adding a few words, which describe your image and, which are related to your article content.
- - If you do not want to use a "alt" tag, then consider using a "title" tag for the image, that will also work to optimize your blog.
Example of a "title" tag:
<img src="seo.gif" title="Improve Search Engine Rankings"/>
