        • What are RSS Feeds?

        • - Why you should sign up for one -

        • Why Subscribe to RSS Feed?If you've been seeing little orange boxes everywhere you look when you're out on the World Wide Web, don't worry. It's not your glasses (or your eyes), it's just a sign that RSS Feeds are becoming more widespread and popular than ever. If you're reading this and thinking, "What on earth is an RSS Feed?" don't worry-you're in good company! Every day hundreds of people use RSS Feeds without having a clue what they are or how they work. It's enough to know that they bring you brand-new web content with a click of a button.

          What are RSS Feeds?
If you've been living in a cave (or at least a small hut) and you don't know what RSS Feeds are, don't feel bad. Every day hundreds of people all over the world register for and use an RSS Feed without having the faintest idea how it works, or why it works-all they know is it works!
RSS Feeds (where RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication) are the newest means of keeping up with the hottest content on the web. The feed gives websites the power to share recent headlines on a given topic with other sites and applications, meaning that if you subscribe to a site's RSS Feed you'll be automatically put on the list to receive new articles, videos, music files and other media content the minute it hits cyberspace.

Why Would I Want to Use an RSS Feed?
Once you figure out what an RSS Feed is, it should be immediately obvious why they're such a hit among the cyber community. Imagine not having to constantly flip back and forth from your favorite sites to see if new content has been posted. Imagine the convenience of not having to wade through pages upon pages of useless information to find the article you want. Just sign up for an RSS Feed, and Boom! The minute new content is posted it lands right in your lap.
When you subscribe to an RSS Feed you're going to be given one of two options (possibly both). You can elect to use a browser based feed, which lets you catch up with RSS Feed subscriptions from any computer, or you can elect to use a downloadable feed, which will store the information on your main computer. The difference between these two RSS Feeds has been likened to similarly structured e-mail programs; for example, Google Mail, where you can check your e-mail from any computer in the world, vs. Outlook's e-mail program which downloads it to your personal computer.

          - - - RSS Feeds are the wave of the future for keeping up with what's happening on the web, and when you subscribe to an RSS Feed you'll have the chance to find the up to the minute. - - -
