If your website is listed in the DMOZ Directory, you will probably have seen that most major search engines, will list your website using your title and description from your DMOZ listing. It is something that has causes many of us to do some cursing, from time to time!
The problem with the DMOZ listing is, they aren’t updated and don’t usually display your current website title and description. This is a major problem because you end up losing leads and clicks to your website, because of those outdated meta tags.
If your website is listed in DMOZ Directory and you are experiencing this issue with your web listing, there is a fix, thanks to Google and MSN. Just add the follow meta tag into the “HEAD” section of your web page and this will instruct most of the search engines, not to use DMOZ meta title and description tags for your web listing.
Meta Name=”Robots” Content=”NOODP”
However, Yahoo, hasn’t come up with a tag solution that instructs their Directory from displaying your description tag for your website’s listing. Hopefully, there will be a solution in the making!
