        • How to improve your Alexa Ranking

        • - Easy solution, requires some work on your part -

        • How to improve your Alexa rankingOne of the more frequent asked questions by webmasters is, "how to improve Alexa ranking," and why is it so important? Alexa's rankings, is a current standard by which many marketers make their decision to purchase your products and services. This is especially true if you are selling ad space on your website!

The plain truth about Alexa traffic rankings is, the more traffic you have, the more your Alexa ranking will improve. However, this is due to the fact that, the overall increase of traffic increases the percentage of people who surf with the Alexa toolbar. There really aren't any secrets to boost Alexa rank, other than increasing the amount of traffic that your site receives, and targeting those who use the Alexa toolbar!

One simple methods to improve Alexa traffic is, making use of Google's Image Search, and by adding an image library to your website.

          Getting your image library setup:
          * Install WordPress in a sub-domain or sub-folder on your website.
          * Use the same WordPress theme that you are currently using for your blog.
          * Install a photo library plugin for WordPress, such as NextGen Gallery.

I prefer the NextGen gallery plugin for WP. However, there are quite a few plugins of this type out there to select from. It is really up to you, which one suits your needs the best.

Determine what your blog niche is:
          * Take a look at your blog and posts and determine your niche.
          * Use the search engines to find keywords and keyword phrases that pertain to your niche.
          * Find keywords that have ample traffic volume that pertain to your niche.
          * Write down your findings for reference.

Finding your blog post keywords and phrases:
I strongly suggest that you use a keyword tool, such as ABAKUS Topword. This tool will analyze your web pages and report the top keywords and phrases that are being used. Start with your page main and move on to other pages that are popular and to the least popular pages of your blog.

Once you have complied a list of keyword terms and phrases, it is time to cross reference them with the search engines for popularity/traffic. Next step is to either design or find free images that fit your keywords and key phrases. Once you have found them, it is time to upload them into your image library and fill in the title, alt tags, etc.

Make sure that your image library has a visible link to it on your main page so that visitors will be able to see it. Write a blog post about your image library and get a few friends to do the same. Allow a few weeks for Google to index your image library and watch your web stats to track activity in your image library. Next check your Alexa ranking to see if your traffic ranking has improved. The key is to increase the amount of traffic flow to your site to improveĀ  your Alexa Ranking!
