I have to admit that it is getting a lot harder to achieve top search engine rankings these days. The technology at Google keeps improving and search engine optimization, "SEO" isn't as considered as valuable as it used to be. In the past, I could launch a new site and have it ranking in the top 30 in Google, within 7 to 10 days. However, the SEO techniques that I have used in the past, are less effective to acquire top search engine rankings!
If we take a look at SEO, you'll find that title tags, and descriptions are still necessary. However, many sites are ranking in the top positions that are abusing URL structure, title tags and description tags. Therefore, Google will continue to change their ranking algorithms and SEO, as we know it will eventually fade away.
Taking a further look at Google, you'll see that their keep releasing free tools and products. If we look even closer, you'll see that these products are nothing more that retrieval devices. The main directive is to gather and report information about user behavior from the World Wide Web. This information is used to improve their ranking algorithm, and less importance is put on SEO optimization.
I still tend to believe, there will always be some type of need for basic SEO. However, it will become much harder for those making a living as an SEO provider in the near future. For those SEO experts who focus solely on SEO to achieve top search engine rankings, your world is about to crumble!
Currently, SEO firms that provide "SEO" as a stand alone service are making a big mistake. In order to succeed, you must consider other factors such as, usability and conversion rates in your SEO optimization campaign. If you choose an optimization firm fails to understand this, they won't be able to deliver you anything other than an ineffective SEO campaign!
It is my opinion that less people are interested in SEO theses days. furthermore, the main focus seems to be on social media for means of getting traffic. I tend to believe this is easier to obtain traffic from these types of sources than learning SEO and applying it. Therefore, people, seem to believe that Saturation, is better than Optimization!
