        • Essentials of the Blog Archives Page

        • Blog Archives PageThe blog archives are a chronological display of the blog post collection of the website. They are a link that the bloggers keep in their side bars to keep track of the monthly collection of the blog posts. It helps the visitors and the readers too because once he hits to the blogs search form, it would lead to the information he is seeking faster as they might not be there in the search engine results. The difference being the results are related to content, so there is a greater chance of finding your desired answer. The content receives priority over its publication date.

For the blogger, the archives page is essential in the sense that he can always refer to an organized document. The WordPress plugins can help to create this list, or the links can be put in manually where you can control the order. This enables the readers to jump from link to link easily in the archives page.

There are plugins which automatically allows you to create an archives page, but you cannot customize them. You can create page templates from WordPress and create a manual archive page that allows numerous personalizations. You can choose between two options, where in one, there will be an enlistment of all your posts which will allow you to have a direct access to every article that you have written. The second template will list the posts monthly and by categories.

The archives page has the following characteristics:

          • The user interface must be simple, intuitive and innovative.
          • They must be frequently updated with special effects.
          • There must be layers to provide rich image composition experience, as found in professional software.
          • They must be equipped with powerful tools like Magic Wand or Clone Stamp that facilitates creating and working with selections.
          • They must accommodate unlimited history.
