For everyone unique visitor I receive, they view 8 to 10 pages on my SEO blog. Therefore, I find it very hard to believe that the content on this blog sucks. I have been bouncing this off the wall for quite some time now. I am very determined to figure out why people aren’t commenting when I have a decent page per visitor ratio.
Therefore, I need to throw the ball into the court of my readers to get some feedback. As I look at my content, it is at least 94% unique at the time of publishing. For that reason, it is very original, and it is specifically niche related to this blog’s topic.
I have to back up a little, because I do get a ton of comments on this blog. However, they are almost 100% spam filled. I really am starting to wonder about people’s understanding of blog commenting! I don’t think that it is that hard to read a blog post and leave a comment that adds to the blog topic. Therefore, it puzzles me why people think they can leave comments that are spam filled and try to fake it!
Are people out of their mind? Why would they even try to leave generic comments that contain no value, except to attempt to stroke the blog owner?
Typical spam filled comments:
* Great blog and content. I truly enjoyed your articles, and you’re a outstanding writer!
* You hit the nail right on the head, on this subject!
* It truly amazes me that you can write content like this, time after time.
All the above comments are nothing more than attempt to inflate the ego of the blog owner. The spammer’s thoughts are most likely that the blog owner will approve their comments now!
Are bloggers that insecure that they will accept generic comments that add no value to their post? Or, are they that desperate to get recognition? Whatever it is, totally baffles me!
Here is the problem. If you allow generic comments, it will dilute your page content. It’s just a matter of time that the search engines will start dropping your rankings. This is because you allow comments that add no value to your post topic! Since the search engines focus on the end user experience, quality content is a must if you want to rank well in the search engines.
Therefore, you aren’t gaining anything of real value when you allow comments that are spam filled. Someday very soon, your whole world is going to come unglued when your content ratio trips, the search engines, and you get flagged! Then, what are you going to do? You may have just dug such a big whole that you can’t get out of.
In the whole process, you have probably lost a bunch of readers due to the low quality of the comments that you have allowed on your blog! Furthermore, the chances are you are still trying to figure out why your readership and search engine rankings have dropped so drastically. I hope that you are catching the point here!
Here is the deal. If you bake a cake that is filled with crap, it is going to taste bad. If you put frosting over it to cover it up, you still got a cake that is filled with crap. Either way, it is going to taste bad. Therefore, would you really expect your guests to eat it?
Another issue that I have is, you need to have some self worth. Furthermore, that comes from within you and that is something you need to work on. You build it by working hard without taking shortcuts, lying, cheating and stealing your way to the top.
When you do things that are ethical, you can look back over your shoulder without any fear of consequences of being punished. Furthermore, you’ll feel good about yourself and realize the growth you have achieved. This makes you a much better person and blogger. Mainly, because you have built your site upon a solid foundation that won’t crumble like stubble and straw.
Therefore, what are you going to do the next time someone tries to stroke you by leaving comments on your blog that are spam filled? Are you going to let them play you, or are you going to continue to serve cake filled with crap? I hope that your answer is, neither!
Additional thoughts:
Many of the top bloggers have gone to a no comment format for their blog. This is due to the fact that dealing with comment spam, takes up way too much time. Furthermore, they figure that search engine rankings are better than to have in this instance. Therefore, they avoid getting their content diluted with comments that add no value to the post topic!
Hope this information was helpful to you, “Are you going to let comment spammers dilute your blog into oblivion?” Be sure to share this with your friends on Twitter. Furthermore, I appreciate your time that you have spent here! I would really enjoy your comments on this subject!
