bump-scheduleMany bloggers now days create content for their websites in advance and publish them using a time internal which is usually one to two posts a day or every two or three days. The Spunky Jones Blog is no exception. At Spunky Jones the articles that will be published are placed in a queue using the scheduled posts feature provided by the WordPress blogging platform. Most of the time there are around 20 posts in the queue which are scheduled to be published one everyday. So basically there is one post, which will be published on the 1st of a month, another on the 2nd and so on. Sometimes there arises a need where this schedule needs to be altered. Like the post scheduled to be published on the 1st of a month, I would like to move it to the 2nd, and the post scheduled for the 2nd, I want it moved to the 3rd and so on. This is a tedious thing to do manually, specially if you have lots of posts in the queue. I would manually need to alter the publish dates of every post.

And this is where the ‘Bump the Schedule‘ plugin comes into play. Using this plugin I can easily bump the schedule by specifying a start date and number of days to bump the posts. So assume I have posts scheduled to be published on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, and I want to move the posts starting from the 2nd by one day. Using this plugin, I specify the date for the 2nd post and 1 as the number of days to bump the posts by and viola! The schedule now looks like: 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th so now I can easily insert a post into the 2nd slot.
