        • How Many Words Should I Include In My Blog Posts?

        • Blog PostsWhether you are young or old in blogging, the age old question always seems to pop up! "How many words should I include in my blog posts?" However, this is something that isn't so easy to answer because there are a few variables which one has to consider. Furthermore, much of it really depends on your blog niche, and what the personal preference of your readers is.

There seems to be an unofficial standard which most bloggers follow these days. The rule of thumb is to limit your blog posts to 500 words or less, until you get a handle on your readership. One must consider that most people are usually very busy with their daily lives, and the time they actually allow themselves to read your blog articles is somewhat limited.

Reasons for blog posts not to exceed 500 words:
          * Easy to read and doesn't require a huge amount of time.
          * Usually posts of 500 words is enough to get your point across to your readers.

Reasons not to write less than 350 words in your blog posts:
          * Limits your ability to write an effective article that gets your point across to your readers.
          * It is somewhat of an unofficial standard in the blogging world, that blog posts between 350 to 500 words are acceptable. Anything less, is somewhat frowned upon, and doesn't help to build your reputation as a professional writer.

Additional things to take under consideration:
          * It is possible to write blog posts consisting of 350 words, which get your point across. However, it does require much more time to fit everything together in that amount of space.
          * If your blog niche is too small, and you find it hard to write articles containing 500 words, you may want to consider expanding your niche a bit to give you more flexibility.
          * Writing articles with less than 350 words, you should consider breaking it down into a list format. This is an acceptable practice, which many bloggers use.
          * If you blog post runs over 1,000 words or more, you will want to consider breaking it into two parts for a small series.
