        • Protecting your visitors privacy and earning their trust

        • Protecting Your Visitors PrivacyProtecting your visitors privacy is one of the most important tasks that webmasters need to address these days. Your visitors need to know what your privacy policy is, and what you're going to do with their personal information. Not providing a privacy policy can actually be a negative factor, because visitors may use this factor to decide if they are going to participate on your site or simply move on their way.

Below are some simple things which you can do to help reassure visitors and to gain their trust:

          * Create a "privacy policy" page and inform visitors what the policy is.
          * If you plan to use their personal information, then explain to them why and how you intend to use it.
          * Let them know if you collect their e-mail address.
          * Let them know if you collect their IP address.
          * If you plan to sell their information off to third parties, make sure that you tell them so.
          * If you have a mailing list, make sure that you provide the information for them to opt out.
          * Let visitors know what security measures you have taken to protect the loss of their personal information.
          * Let visitors know that you're not responsible for the loss of their personal information and why.

Overall, you must provide as much information as possible to make your visitors to feel comfortable that you are taking the proper measures to protect them.
