Almost every day I see people posting how they did last month on their blog. Furthermore, it doesn't make much sense to me why somebody would want to publish their traffic stats and revenue earned. However, I believe people do this because they saw someone else do it, and it worked for them.
When I was little, my dad would go to the gas station and would fill his car up with gas. However, he would never fill up the tank more than half full. Finally, one day I had to ask him why he did it that way and he said it is the way that his father did it!
I have to admit, it still didn't make much sense, so I decided to call my grandfather to ask him why he filled his gas tank up half way. The answer was that he had a hole in the gas tank. Furthermore, the gas tank would leak gas out if it was filled more than half way. Grandfather, had no idea why my dad would do it that way, when my dad's gas tank didn't have a hole in it and could be completely filled!
The whole thing about publishing your web stats and earnings is nothing more than a gimmick. John Chow, was probably the first to use it as link bait to sucker people into his sugar-coated blogging tips, how to make money. Furthermore, it did work for the Chow, at that time in place in cyber-space. However, in this time and place, posting such information could actually do some damage.
If you aren't making tons of money and your traffic isn't climbing, you actually end up showing people that your traffic and revenue has dropped. Furthermore, most people will start to think your blog doesn't contain anything of value to hold its readership! Therefore, your readers start moving on and you end up losing some of the traffic you once had!
Most of the well known bloggers use their articles as link bait to get you to buy into the dream of making money online. Furthermore, they spend most of their time blogging about places that they traveled and the things they have purchased with their money. This is link bait that gets you to buy into "THEIR" dream! You read about the things that they can afford, and you dream that someday you will be able to do the same. They post pictures of their fancy homes, swimming pools and nice looking women that wear their tee shirts! Therefore, you come back to their site with the hope of finding information that will help you build your empire. However, they aren't going to tell you any of their real secrets to success. If they actually did, they would be giving up a piece of the pie! Right? Do you know that most of their success is because of YOU? Here is the deal, you are the site owners traffic and they know how to convert "YOU" into CASH! (You Can Count on That!)
The main secret to success is based upon lots of target traffic, and knowing how to convert that traffic into CASH! The more targeted traffic you get, the more opportunities you have to sell your products and services. If you don't have any products and services, then you would rely on ads. Most income from successful blogs comes from targeted ads. The more readers and visitors you have, the more your ads that get clicked, and the more money you make. (It is that simple!) Furthermore, part of the big secret of all this is CONVERSION! However, you will need content that is of interest to them to complete your mission.
Why in the world would you want to inform people that your blog is losing traffic and monthly revenue? It is just plain stupid to do it, because you are cutting off your balls, so to speak! Therefore, always choose what to do that is best for your blog. Furthermore, learn to think and stand on your own feet, that will make you more unique!
Hope this blog post was helpful to you, "Why would you want to display your stats and revenue earned?"
Spunky Jones.
