SEO StrategyNo doubt, optimization is the key to achieve high rankings in the Google search engine. Optimizing specific keywords and keyword phrases that aren’t too competitive should be included in your SEO strategy. The goal is to find keywords that aren’t too competitive that can still deliver enough targeted traffic to your site for your SEO efforts. Therefore, you shouldn’t optimize for the most popular keywords or keyword terms. Furthermore, it is better to rank on the 1st page for a lessor competitive term than to rank #80 for a popular keyword term.

Below, you will find an easy three step SEO strategy that will help you to increase traffic from Google.

Step #1: Keyword research – make a list of your keywords and keyword phrases.
You need to take a close look at what you are offering as far as products and services. Then, you need to research those results to make sure that people are searching for them in Google. Furthermore, you will need to look at other related search terms to determine if there is a better choice.

Example: If your site is about SEO strategy, then “SEO strategy” would be a specific keyword term to what you have to offer. On the other hand, if you select “SEO” as your keyword term, that is too general of a keyword term to use.

When you make your keyword list, consider all keyword phrases that people use to search for your products and services. Once you have made your keyword list, it is time to narrow it down the keywords that are specific and aren’t to be competitive. To do this, you will need to use some type of keyword tool, such as Wordtracker.

Step #2: Optimize your pages for your keyword terms and keyword phrases.
This is where many people make the big mistake, by optimizing all of their pages for the same keyword terms. It is better to optimize each page individually for its content and not to use more than 3 keywords or keyword terms. This is a much better and more effective SEO strategy campaign that will offer Google more optimized pages to index.

Since you have done your keyword research and made your keyword list, you just need to create individual pages or posts for those keywords and keyword phrases. Be sure to write specific content that is related to your keywords. Furthermore, don’t forget to include your keywords and phrases in your title, description, keyword meta tags and h1 heading.

Example:
Article title: Are you using an effective SEO strategy?
Description: An effective SEO strategy is needed in order rank high in Google. Furthermore, it can be achieved in three simple steps.
Keyword tag: SEO strategy,SEO optimization, search engine optimization
h1 heading: Why is effective SEO strategy important?
Permalink: effective-seo-strategy.html

Step #3: Building quality backlinks for your pages.
After you have completed step #1 and step #2, it is time to build some quality backlinks to your pages. You should mainly focus on quality links that are related to your pages and content than over quantity. Look for sites that are well established and trusted that have a nice amount of traffic flow. This will help to increase your popularity and rankings in Google.

Additional thoughts:
If your site is well established and trusted by Google, then it is possible to rank for very competitive keyword phrases. However, if your site is fairly new and not established, I highly suggest using lessor competitive keyword terms in your SEO campaign.
